Chinese Intellectual Property Laws Practice
Our Beijing office mainly practice Chinese intellectual property laws, particularly, assists our foreign clients in registering various trademarks, patents and copyrights before the various competent Chinese governmental authorities in charge of intellectual property. The senior trademark attorneys and professionals in our Beijing office supervise the whole application process and discuss the cases face to face with the examiners of the competent Chinese intellectual property authorities. However, our Shanghai office also provides legal services for other intellectual property legal issues for our foreign clients, such as intellectual property consultation and strategic planning, transfer and license of trademarks, patents, copyrights, technology and know-how, anti-counterfeit activities as well as unfair competition.
In this practice, we mainly provide online research and professional analysis before registration for our foreign clients on the registerablity of their marks and patents. We assist our foreign clients in registering various trademarks, patents and copyrights, then watching and enforcing those intellectual property rights against being counterfeited and infringed in China. We also counsel our foreign clients on how to protect their, trade secret, technology and know-how which they have not yet applied for patents in China, as well as on how to import, export and license technologies to or from China.
Chinese Commercial Laws Practice
Our Shanghai office mainly concentrates on various Chinese commercial laws practice. Shanghai has been remaining the main driver of China’s economic growth. Many multi-national companies have invested their business by establishing joint ventures, wholly foreign owned enterprises or representative offices in Shanghai and its neighboring cities such as in Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou in Jiangsu Province and Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wuzhou in Zhejiang Province. In order to meet the legal needs of our foreign clients in those places, apart from some legal service and practice on other intellectual property business, such as anti-counterfeit, strategic consultations and planning, due diligence as well as unfair competitions, our Shanghai office mainly practises Chinese commercial laws and further afields those practice to the above-mentioned neighboring places.
In this practice, we mainly assist our foreign clients in making direct investment in China, such as establishment of equity or contractual joint ventures with Chinese partners, wholly foreign owned enterprises or representative offices just by foreign investors, in merging and acquiring equity interests or assets of Chinese domestic companies, counseling foreign investors on corporate governance and compliance as well as restructuring and reorganization for their foreign invested enterprises in China. We counsel our foreign clients on international trade issues under Chinese legal systems, advising them on how to trade with their Chinese partners. We also advise on various labor and employment issues in China for our foreign clients and assist them in resolving various commercial disputes, such as litigation and arbitration issues in China. We render our professional legal opinion on those matters and draft various documents and agreements in English and Chinese for our clients.
