Before joining China Sunbow Law Firm, Mr. Lawrie Zhu has been practised Chinese trademark laws and general commercial laws upon his graduation for many years working as a full-time trademark attorney and attorney-at-law in several top-tier Chinese law firms in their Shanghai offices as well as a senior in-house legal counsel for a famous logistic company. He is quite familiar with the Chinese Trademark Laws and practice as well as the general corporate legal practice for foreign invested enterprises in China. Thanks for his extensive knowledge and familiarity with the Chinese trademark laws and practice as well as the general Chinese corporate legal practice, he is periodically invited for making speeches in some Chinese IP or corporate events and seminars and he also often writes Chinese legal draft articles concerning Chinese laws and practice..
During working in those law firms, Mr. Zhu splited 50% of his practice on Chinese trademark applications and prosecutions, including trademark new application, opposition, refusal appealing, renewal and litigation; and another 50% of his practice on the general Chinese commercial laws such as foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions and disputes resolution through litigation or arbitration. Mr. Zhu has already represented many domestic and foreign clients to have successfully filed hundreds of Chinese trademark applications and prosecutions and taken care of the related office actions during the examination phases, and also handled numerous trademark appealing before the Chinese Trademark Review and Adjudication Board (“TRAB”) and trademark litigations before Chinese people’s courts. Thanks for his experience as the head of the Corporate Law Department in a famous Chinese law firm where he has accumulated extensive experiences in corporate legal matters; Mr. Zhu is also quite familiar with the Chinese laws and practice for foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, litigation and arbitration, corporate compliance, governance and restructuring, labor and employment, procurement and international trade. Mr. Zhu has once successfully counseled and represented many foreign investors to have established their joint ventures or wholly owned enterprises or merged and acquired Chinese enterprises incompliance with Chinese laws and regulations or resolved their commercial disputes through litigation or arbitration in China.
Mr. Zhu helps our firm to handle trademark matters, mainly including trademark new application, opposition and appealing with TRAB; and other general corporate legal matters mainly including advice on establishment of foreign invested enterprises, mergers and acquisitions and disputes resolution.
